Verb and 18.21 Take Made in America to a New Level

07.01.2015

Prohibition and 18.21 Man Made go together like a Jack Daniel’s and Coke. In fact, the men’s grooming essentials were named after the 18th and 21st amendments to the U.S. Constitution—ones that prohibited and repealed prohibition.

This quintessentially American brand, along with Verb Professional Haircare Products and their catchy “Born in Austin” slogan, are taking American-made branding to a new degree. The companies are not only made in America, but also built on history, hard work, authenticity and other ideals that the U.S. celebrates and takes pride in.

Storytelling is a big part of the 18.21 brand. A Historic Route 66 sign greets you when you visit 1821manmade.com, along with an antique axe, an old typewriter and film camera and some of their hair product in bottles that look a lot like whiskey. Inside this speakeasy style room, their hand-stamped logo, emblazoned with the words “Made in the U.S.A.,” sits in the corner.

You might even feel sneaky as you click on these objects, which take you to videos, contact information, the salon locator and a history of the company. The best part about the website is the products, which can only been seen after opening the secret door. Four posters line the wall with the words “Wanted” above each product, appropriately shaded in black and white. If buying these products is wrong, we don’t want to be right.

Another flag-waver, Verb, is all about authenticity. A clean website and simple packaging design communicates their main message: “Our salon-quality hair products are color-safe, free of harmful sulfates, parabens and gluten and are made in the U.S.A. without animal testing. Nothing bad, lots of good.” They said it best. You almost feel cleaner just by visiting the website—no product needed!

Transparency is also seen through their price point. Every product is $14 to make the line affordable for everyone, which is a familiar but innovative concept that most people can get behind.

Both of these brands make you feel like a better citizen by supporting them—so roll up your sleeves and do your part! Maybe your tribute to freedom this year will include purchasing these products made in American the Beautiful. Browse the products online and purchase your new favorite brands at Paramount Beauty.
