04.28.2016

Alyssa LoCastoBy Erin Noha

Alyssa LoCasto, Senior Stylist at The Secret Garden Spa, attended the Moroccanoil NYC Academy and earned the opportunity to work for Moroccanoil during New York Bridal Fashion Week!

At Paramount Beauty, we support our stylists and applaud their choices to grow and learn in the field. We had the chance to catch up with Alyssa and find out more on her experience during New York Bridal Fashion Week and the importance of education.

What did you learn from styling for New York Bridal Fashion Week?

It was such a privilege to get to work with such talented stylists and to take away a few of their own tricks to work fast but still end up with an amazing outcome.

My experience working with Moroccanoil during New York Bridal Fashion Week was amazing! I am so honored to have been chosen to get this opportunity to work with all of these talented stylists and am so glad that I                                                                               did it. It is an experience I will never forget.

How did the opportunity come about?

I had the opportunity through my salon, The Secret Garden Spa, to take the “All Dressed Up” class about advanced braiding and accessorizing the hair at the Moroccanoil Academy with Steven Turpin and Kelli Fahy.

After taking the class, I received an email from Christina Oddo asking if I would be interested in joining their team for Bridal Fashion Week.

How important is education?

In this field, education is key to your success. The trends, styles and technology are always changing and advancing. Education keeps you ahead of all the changes, giving you an edge over your competition.

How has education helped you network and learn from other stylists?

You can learn something from everyone. I have made a lot of friends from all over while attending education classes—I still keep in touch with a lot of them. I love to watch the way other people work. I take tricks and tips from them that I apply to my own work. Social media has also allowed us to communicate through pictures of our work and formulas that we share and post.

What's your favorite type of braid/bridal updo?

I love the 5-strand braid and fishtail braids. There is so much detail to them that stands out when they’re incorporated into updo styles.
